The White Road is creation, restoration, preservation, protection, purification, transcendence, selflessness and revelation of truth. Some believe the White was the first road, refracted to create the others.
In terms of powers and spells, White Mages make amazing bodyguards and protectors. The White Road is capable of creating objects from clothing to walls to weapons out of nothing, healing almost any injury or poison, erecting powerful mystical barriers and wards, dispelling unwanted magics and banishing things which do not belong. White magic can reveal the truths of things, whether by compelling beings to speak the truth, dispelling illusions or revealing hidden information. The White Road also contains spells that destroy darkness and corruption. However, in many cases the exact effects of these spells and what they do or do not act upon is affected by the beliefs and perceptions of their wielders. White magic is also able to influence, manipulate and even at its highest levels create souls. The White Road includes spells that restrain spirits or bind souls to objects or locations or allow a practioner to project their soul to distant locations.
The beliefs and philosophies of the White Road are many and include various forms of Creationism, the belief that craft, making and creativity are the highest goals of sentient existence, the belief that “life” and “soul” are not the same thing, philosophies of altruism, selflessness and placing the group above the individual. Most who walk the White Road or aspire to its tenets believe that a soul is a higher thing than life-force; that only sentient beings possess a soul and that non-sentient animals possess only lifeforce. They believe in the superiority of spirit over matter and, generally, that the world is a creation achieved by spirit descending onto the level of matter. This is in counterpoint to Green Road philosophy, that often teaches that the soul evolves from life-force and arises from the material.
The less positive side of White can include a belief in conformity and uniformity that can be stifling to individuality, and a zealous pursuit of ideas of purity that can lead to conflict and persecution. Some view the other Roads as corruptions of White, but many who walk the White Road see the other eight as valid refracted aspects of White.
White Road wizards are often bodyguards, protectors, healers or artists and craftsmen. Others are zealous disciples of light and purity, seeking to drive out darkness and corruption. Many non-mages of these professions consider themselves to be walking the White Road or adhere to White-based religions.
In terms of material objects, the White Road and white magic is often associated with pearls and diamonds, rowan, ash and white oak wood , steel, shields, milk, marble, white silk and lilies.
