The Red Road is passion, fire, desire, destruction, the earth element, individuality, immovability, resolve and determination. In many ways the Red Road can be seen as an opposite of the Blue and White Roads and yet in some ways it also overlaps them, especially Blue with which it shares lightning and a love of freedom.
Red magic commands the elements of fire and earth, the forces of flame, acids, lightning and pure disintegrating energies as well as the hardness and immovability of iron and stone and the passionate power of blood. No other form of magic has as many options for destruction. Red wizards can also harness the Road’s haste and desire to grant powers of speed and intensity and shatter enchantments that bind, control or transform. Red spells can instill lusts, whether for pleasure or blood, induce and channel rage and find that which the heart most greatly desires.
Red Road philosophies and concepts include individualism, anarchism, selfishness, the belief that acting on impulse and emotion is preferable to forethought, belief in self-reliance, might-makes-right, hedonism, the belief that the strong shall survive, and the idea that all thinking beings should decide all things based on their own feelings rather than dogma’s, traditions, or the concerns of others.
Red Mages have a reputation as selfish and destructive terrors who do as they please with no regard for others. Like all generalities this is by no means always true, though many Red Mages are stout individualists and tend to judge others by their level of power and willingness to follow their own impulses. As with many of the Roads, some Red Wizards walk on its other side as believers in resolve and self-control, emphasizing determination and persistence over fleeting whims.
Things associated with Red Magic include blood, fire, acids, rubies, bloodstones, alder trees and iron.
