Got a hold-request email this morning from Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine-”The Wages of Decay” has passed their first two rounds of reading and now lolls happily in the third stage, the pool of stories from which the editors choose material to publish. Now I wait for three months (at most) to see if it gets picked. Still, very happy news.

Oh, that is the waiting that gives me fits. All the anticipation and the mistake of thinking, “It’s in the bag.” Then to receive, “We liked it, but…” Argh! Crossing my fingers that the reply you receive is far different: “We liked it, and…”
Well, a story in a similar vein made it to their last round a few months ago. It didn’t get picked up, but it also didn’t get “rejected” as such, it just passed the 3 month mark after which the send stories back if they haven’t been selected. So, I’m very cautiously optimistic about this one…it went through the first 2 rounds in just 12 days.
You have reason to be cautiously optimistic. 2 rounds in 12 days? Sounds like they’ve got a hankering to keep this one.
